Follow your personal interests, and choose from a plethora of focus areas. Will you focus on the deep past of humankind? Or do you prefer to dive into the Roman world? Or would you rather study pre-Columbian America? The choice is up to you!
Regardless of the focus area you choose, you will follow a general course in archaeological theory. Each focus area consists of two lecture series, supplemented with lectures by guest speakers, including international speakers, and elective courses. You will also choose a second focus area, either centered on a region, period, or archaeological science, supplementing your main focus. Finally, there is room for fieldwork.
A large part of the programme is intended for writing the thesis. In this thesis, the results of practical investigations are presented, combined with literature studies.
Choose one of the following focus areas:
- Paleolithic Archaeology
- Prehistory of Europe
- Archaeology of the Roman Provinces, Middle Ages and Modern Period
- Archaeology of the Americas
- Archaeology of the Near East
- Classical and Mediterranean Archaeology
