The master's specialisation Life Science and Education optimally prepares you to teach the subject of chemistry and/or biology to Dutch secondary school students, based on a solid background of high quality research in Life Science. The programme comprises a one-year LST component, followed by an education component in the second year. This master's specialisation uniquely enables you to make a relevant impact on society by educating today's secondary school students for tomorrow's challenges in the field of chemistry and/or biology.

Do you want to fascinate our younger generations for the field of chemistry and biology? Are you aiming for a career as a modern and flexible teacher? Then, the Life Science and Education master's specialisation is the right choice for you. After completion, you will have obtained your teacher qualification, which is required for employment as a chemistry and/or biology teacher in Dutch secondary schools. You can also participate in the World Teachers Programme for bilingual and international teaching. As the main education component is taught in Dutch, all applicants must provide proof of proficiency in Dutch language.

The master's degree is a stepping-stone for those graduates with the aspiration to pursue a PhD degree. Students with a desire to apply their knowledge of the life sciences outside the university have good job possibilities in R&D departments in industry, business, public utility companies, teaching, consultancy and government bodies. Many students eventually attain higher management positions.
