**Best MSc Human Resource Management in the Netherlands - Higher Education Guide Masters 2019 and 2018**

The Master of Science in Human Resource Management (HRM) aims to graduate students who are able to define, analyze, and evaluate issues related to the management of work and employment of people in organizations. In the MSc HRM, you will gain academic knowledge and skills to consider and explore how HRM policies and practices can be developed and applied. You will learn to do this by taking an evidence-based, scientific approach. This will prepare you for a professional HR career in any type of organization.

In the MSc HRM, you follow courses that cover both a strategic and a behavioural perspective of HR. You will learn to match the supply and demand of labour, both at a macro and micro-level, and to anticipate internal and external changes that affect the management of work and people in an organization. You will learn about factors that play a role this process (e.g. law, pay, leadership, and teams) and will have the possibility to expand this with other topics (e.g. stress & health, technological development, internationalization of business, or business ethics). You complete the programme by performing research and writing a thesis.

Waarom aan de RUG?

Our master is an integral, specialized HRM programme with a research-driven approach in which you learn to apply theory and scientific evidence to the practice of HRM. Both a strategic and a behavioural perspective of HRM is taken, with specific attention to leadership, team processes, and labour law. We offer a broad range of electives.
The programme has been internationally accredited by the AACSB and EQUIS, ensuring a high-quality education, which only one percent of universities reach worldwide.

You will have ample opportunity to compose the programme according to your own preferences. Compulsory courses are Strategic Human Resource Management, Personnel Instruments, and Research & Professional Skills for HRM. Five courses (Leadership, Work Design & Team Processes, Dutch Labour Law, International Labour Law and Personnel Economics) form an elective group from which you choose at least three. Next to this, a wide range of electives is available.

You learn how HRM policies and practices can be established on the best available research-based evidence that has been obtained and established in social and business sciences. You practice to adopt this research-based approach when you conduct your own research projects during the program. To complete your MSc HRM, you write a master thesis, which may be combined with an internship within an organization.

Studying means working independently and planning your studies yourself. But successful studying depends on many different factors, so it is understandable that you may need to consult an impartial expert to discuss your study progress and personal circumstances that influence your studies. The faculty's study advisors are available to help you. Obviously, everything discussed with the study advisor remains confidential.
