specialisatie International and European Law Advanced
Acquire an advanced understanding of the core issues of international and EU law. There is considerable freedom to focus on the subjects that you find relevant for your future career.
Besides EU competition law and external relations law, you may choose to enrol in courses on topics of public international law, including international arbitration or international individual criminal responsibility. You may also further deepen your knowledge of EU internal market law, immigration law, or European private law. You can apply a particular focus yourself, and opt for a thematic package instead of a purely disciplinary one, this is not common in other law schools.

During this programme you will gain knowledge of the internal and external markets of the EU and the position of Europe in the world. You will receive a sound basis for an international legal career.
The specialisation Business Law studies offers students the chance to become experts in the area of European company law. They benefit from the knowledge of the renowned Business and Law Research Centre. This centre combines academic excellence with the practical expertise of major companies and law firms. By the end of the programme you will understand the interaction of European and national law on businesses.

specialisatie European Law and Global Affairs
This specialisation offers a unique multidisciplinary programme combining the study of European law and political science. It focuses on the main challenges facing the EU in the 21st century.
The Master's specialisation in European Law and Global Affairs is an LL.M programme taught at the Faculty of Law at Radboud University. It has a course load of 60 ECTS (one-year). All the courses are 7 ECTS and the Master's thesis is 18 ECTS.
You will be attending 6 courses in total, 4 courses at the Faculty of Law and 2 courses at the Nijmegen School of Management (NSM).

Advanced Notions of International and European Law
This is a course aimed to rapidly give all students, whatever their prior knowledge is at the start of the programme, an intricate understanding of European and international law.
EU External Relations Law
This course focuses on the external dimension of EU law: the rules that govern the Union's international relations as well as the so-called Common Foreign and Security Policy.
Public International Law Advanced
This advanced course deals with the approach of the international judiciary to the preventive obligations of States, also as part of their obligation to provide a substantive remedy. The underlying theme is humanization of state responsibility.
Cooperation and Conflict in the 21st Century (NSM)
This political science course offers an overview of characteristic patterns, mechanisms and normative assessments of both post-Cold War conflicts as well as cooperation.
Comparative Constitutional Law
This course focuses on judicial review, (international) courts and individual rights, judicial independence, federalism, government accountability, war powers and international relations, comparing constitutions in several countries.
Changes in World Politics: The Rise of the BRIC Countries (NSM)
This political science course focuses on the so-called BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, China), comparing the policies of the different countries, trying to find explanations for their rise, and discussing what their ascent means for the future of global politics.
Master's thesis
The Master's thesis consists of an individual research project, which allows you to investigate a topic of your choice under the close supervision of our expert staff.

A unique feature of this specialisation is that it combines human rights and immigration law courses, two areas that are among the most important in the European Union today.
