The European Law School master's programme provides an in-depth study of European and comparative law (the latter, by offering traditional legal subjects from a comparative perspective). You are trained as a generalist equipped with essential legal and legal-linguistic skills to help you function in today's internationalised legal world. You quickly learn to anticipate and deal with transnational and European legal issues, and your knowledge of comparative law also equips you to communicate effectively with international colleagues and understand their legal perspectives. This is a one-year programme taught in English.

The ELS programme comprises three tracks (or specialisations): EU law, Ius Commune and the 'free track'. The EU law specialisation focuses on EU law and how it is (to be) applied by and in the Member States. The Ius Commune specialisation involves comparative law, studies common principles of European private and public law and explores how these principles can help to develop and shape EU law. The free track allows students to combine the main features and benefits of the EU law and Ius Commune specialisations.
