Are you curious, creative and determined to solve biomedical challenges? Are you fascinated about the fundamentals of biomedicine and dream to be a scientist, work in a clinic or be an entrepreneur? This programme focuses on state of the art methodology and the skills that enable researchers to unravel the molecular mechanisms in health and disease. Your choice of research project (year 2) and laboratory reflects your choice of the six BMS specialisations:

  5. Nutrition, Physical Activity and Metabolism

Building on decades of fundamental and clinical research, neuromodulation has recently emerged as a promising field that has the potential to change the neuroscience landscape.

Equipped with detailed knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, a wide spectrum of invasive and non-invasive techniques has been developed that allows manipulation of the central nervous system and opens the door for novel clinical applications in various diseases.

I want to become meaningful in immunology and discover the mechanisms

Before I came to Maastricht I was a bit shy, not eager to express my opinions. The PBL teaching method has encouraged me to improve myself. Now, I love the discussions in the tutorials and the feedback you get from your fellow students and tutors. I've always been passionate about biomedical science, in particular immunology which is about finding the mechanisms behind certain diseases. When I graduate, I want to apply for a PhD position in immunology.
