The age of multimedia and increased global connectivity encourage social change and renewal, transforming the ways in which people and organizations think and act in all parts of the world.
Media represent a growing economic power, while they also have a pervasive influence on how people and organisations think and act in different contexts. The media sector has changed immensely in recent decades due to digitalisation and internationalisation, but also as a result of social, cultural, economic, and political developments.
The omnipresence of media in our society has led to a growing demand for academically trained media experts who have a firm grasp of, and who can respond to, complex developments and problems in the media sector, as well as media-related issues in society.
The Media, Culture & Society programme allows you to dive into the organisation and development of various media sectors as well as the social and cultural impacts of media.

The digital revolution and globalization have transformed the media business and other industries. New business models have been developed and all kinds of new products and services have emerged.
Are you entrepreneurial and creative enough to meet the ever-changing and increasingly diverse demands of today's media and communication professions? Put yourself to the test in this engaging and entrepreneurial programme and explore how new media have transformed the media business and other international industries.
The programme explores developments, trends and ways in which media firms and other companies adapt to altering business conditions and new models of communication and business.
Students will use state-of-the-art theory and by working on real cases for companies you will learn to trace and analyse the fast paced technological and organisational changes in the media business. You will dive into the multiple challenges faced by companies, entrepreneurs and policymakers in the media industries and other business fields. By exploring the impact of new media technologies on existent business models as well as their innovative potential you will stand out amongst your peers in the labour market.

This programme focuses on the workings of the media and creative industries, and it also addresses the cultural significance of the media and creative industries for society.
Music, movies, TV programmes, social media, magazines, books, games, vlogs, apps, advertisements, commercials, brand logos. People are in contact with products of the media and creative industries all the time. The industries creating and disseminating these products are not just economically increasingly important, they also have a wide-ranging cultural impact. The media and creative industries have greatly transformed in recent years, due to digitalization, internationalization, and economies of scale, but also under the influence of socio-cultural, political and economic developments.
The Media & Creative Industries programme covers current issues in organization, policies, production, management, marketing and distribution of media companies and creative industries, paying due attention to the impact of digitalization and digital media and the role of audiences.
The programme meets the growing demand for academically trained media and creative industry experts who are able to respond effectively and inventively to changing conditions, complex issues, and new opportunities for media and creative enterprises.

You have basic knowledge of the field of media and communication and social scientific research methods.

To be admitted, you must satisfy the following requirements:
- TOEFL (www.ets.org/toefl) (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum overall score of
100 in the internet based test,
250 in the computer-based test or
600 in the paper test.
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 7.0 (www.ielts.org)
- CAE (Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English): grade B
- CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English): grade A or B
If you have not yet taken any English test, we recommend that you take the IELTS or TOEFL.
