The master in Victimology and Criminal Justice is a unique graduate program in the world that provides a comprehensive and rigorous teaching of victimology within the framework of criminal justice systems. This inherently interdisciplinary and international oriented program welcomes outstanding students with at least a bachelor's degree in law, liberal arts or social sciences (criminology, psychology, political science, sociology, anthropology).

The Master in Victimology and Criminal Justice offers a very good academic environment. It is administered by the International Victimology Institute Tilburg (INTERVICT); an interdisciplinary Institute of Tilburg University and the University's first Center of Excellence. The various courses are taught by experts in victimology affiliated with INTERVICT and by renowned international guest lecturers. The interdisciplinary education of the program prepares graduates for numerous employment opportunities within bodies dealing with victim issues nationally (public and private sectors) and internationally, both in research environments as in practice.

opbouwThe curriculum of the Master Victimology and Criminal Justice consists of 60 ECTS. 9 compulsory courses must be completed. All compulsory comprise 6 ECTS. A Master's thesis of 18 ECTS. You can find an overview of all courses of the Master on:

Many students combine Victimology with a second master, work or an internship. If possible, lectures are scheduled on three fixed days in the week.
The curriculum of the one-year Master Victimology and Criminal Justice consists of 60 ECTS. A Master's thesis of 18 ECTS must be written on a topic within victimology and/or criminal justice. A presentation on and defence of the thesis are part of the final examination.

Graduates of this master have a wide range of employment opportunities in international and national, governmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of criminal justice, health care, disaster relieve, human rights, etc.
Furthermore, with the growing importance of victims' rights in criminal justice systems, graduates of this Master's program can expect to embark on a career in victim-related services within judiciaries. Coordinators and lecturers of the program advise students to work on their resume and, for instance, do an internship; get good grades; participate in study trips and other activities organized. Students are made aware that they have to 'stand out'. During the program and after graduation students are informed about job vacancies and activities related to victimology.
