Waarom aan de Radboud Universiteit?

Radboud University challenges you to look at Economics differently and to discover that within all specialisations this field is much more than money, markets and regulations. Economists also examine consumers', businesses' and governmental financial behaviour and decision-making. Because their reasoning is not always rational, it's important to have a clear understanding of thought processes.
We include aspects of sociology and psychology in our programme, and we look at our field from a cultural, legal and even philosophical perspective. Having an eye for all these facets will give you a much better basis to tackle the complex economic issues in today's fast-changing globalising world than when you just focus on numbers and methods. Simply put, Radboud University's Master's programme in Economics will put you ahead of the game.

This unique focus equips students not only with traditional approaches in finance, but also with a sound understanding of human behaviour in financial markets.

Graduates are well equipped for careers in banking or investment, consulting in financial or finance-related sectors and in multinational firms where (inter)national financial markets play an important role, or for careers in central banks, finance ministries or supra-national institutions, such as the IMF or World Bank.

specialisatie International Economics and Business

The Master's programme in International Economics & Business focuses on the interaction between the behaviour of multination firms and globalization: the increasing interdependence of countries.

Understanding today's global economy requires insights from both international economics and international business. The International Economics & Business specialisation combines these two fields and focuses on their relevance for the multinational firm. Developments in financial markets, monetary policy, exchange and interest rates are studied along with their consequences for risk management and finances of firms. The success of cross border mergers and acquisitions is influenced by differences in institutions and culture between host and parent countries. These aspects are therefore explicitly addressed in the programme.

As a graduate in International Economics & Business you will be working as a professional for large and medium sized international companies, consultancy firms, commercial banks, government and not-for-profit organisations

The Master's in International Economics & Business is a specialisation of the Master's programme in Economics.

specialisatie Economics and Policy

The Master's programme in Economics & Policy examines how people and policy makers make decisions that affect economic, societal and personal welfare, and what lessons follow for policy design.

The Economics & Policy programme addresses several main questions such as: How do people and policy makers make decisions that affect economic, societal, and personal welfare? How do we measure and define this welfare? Which lessons follow from this for policy design? These and other issues are treated by drawing on state-of-the-art developments within the discipline of economics.

This Master's track offers courses that consider cases from a European and international context to shape students' understanding of how policy affects economic behaviour and economic performance. Students are equipped with both mainstream economic methods as well as endowed with a critical attitude in line with the 'Economics Plus' perspective. They are expected to find positions in national policy making organizations, international policy bodies, and policy advisory and consulting companies.

The Master's in Economics & Policy is a specialization of the Master's programme in Economics.

specialisatie International Business

The specialisation International Business (IB) combines both economics and business studies, focusing specifically on their relevance for firms that operate in an international environment.

In this specialisation, you can opt for a Master's in Business Administration or a Master's in Economics. The difference lies in the focus of the studies:

International Business: Business Administration. In this specialisation, you will be offered a strategic perspective on ways of gaining a competitive advantage in the global marketplace that aim to create both economic and social value. This suggests adopting a balanced outlook on relations with market and nonmarket stakeholders for a sustainable performance, seeking responsiveness and global efficiencies in marketing efforts, and innovating in emerging and developing markets.

International Business: Economics. In this specialisation you are taught to answer questions such as: What are the consequences of the rise of emerging economies, such as China and India, for the structures and strategies of multinationals? How does the success of a cross border merger or acquisition depend on differences in institutions and cultures between host and parent countries? And what are the effects of trade agreements on the (location) strategies of multinationals?

specialisatie International Political Economy

Many global issues require you to combine economics and political science. In this Master's specialisation you will integrate both perspectives and get a grip on international policy.

You will learn to go beyond the surface of daily news and to disentangle deeper global structures of economic growth and the distribution of wealth and power that underlie today's governance problems. We challenge you to not only understand and explain 'the world', but to view and assess it from the perspectives of different stakeholders, while understanding the social and economic structures and institutions enabling or hindering them in pursuing their objectives.

The programme consists of seven courses in the field of international political economy and a Master's thesis in which you will specialise further either in Economics or Political Science.

After graduation, you'll have the skills and knowledge for job positions at international firms, political parties, national ministries, market authorities, banks, the European Parliament and the European Commission.

You can apply for this specialisation in Economics or in Political Science. Depending on this, you will graduate with a MSc in either Political Science or in Economics. The diploma supplement accompanying your degree certificate will state that you have followed the International Political Economy specialisation.
